reality tv
One of the most comman examples in Turkey of reality is ”BBG evi’. As Salman mentioned they do basic things but they do that when the camera is on. Generally they do meanless things such as burning their own hands, it was meanless when we tought but most of the people interested from that so the person began to be popular by doing it. For example one of the reason why ‘BBG evi’ is popular is because of our interests. We choose one of the character which is similar to us, it colud be identitiy or just a similar pyhsical attitude. Than we started to watch it just because of small similarities. Another reason of this is our voyeur part. Every body denies that but every body interests abour learning or seeing unknown things. On the other hand reality tv have lots of disadventages like its effects on news. The reason of this is prefers of news. Tvs and news papers prefered to show homocides or suicides in the first page but if a very important people dies it will be on second page because most of people do not interest from usual news. Also this demolishes the quality of news. As Salman told in his lecture news do not showing real news any more, because audiences do not interested from them so they prefer to show more entertainments and show less news for having audinces attention more.
the enormous radio
In the short story ” The Enormous Radio”, one family is explained. At the begining of the story, they have a broken radio. When it becomes useless, they decide to buy a new one. Then, they purchase an enormous radio. it affects their life too much. They start to listen their neighbour’s talks. They figure out that they are luckier than their neighbour because of the fact that their neighbours have many problems about life’s condition. However, as I said before, it affects our couple’s life extremely. The wife is almost going crazy, she starts to listen them all time. So, the radio is seems as dangerous thing, it is like an evil.
P.S. I could not find anything to wirte about, as you knew I presented it but that’s all…
Family
In ‘ Cheaper by the Dozen 2′ we can see ‘Bakers’ family as a huge happiness source. Their attitude is respectfull to each other. They do many things as a whole family to share happiness and spend more time as a whole family and in that film they go to camp. We can see that father and mother are as dominant as like many family on their children. However, they try to rule them without breaking their hearth. So it seems as a perfect family. Furthermore, they have friend family ‘ Murtaughs’ who are their next door. Murtaughs’s father is a competitive man. In addition to this, he forces his kids to win all games that are between these two family. He does not think about his children’s problems, he only thinks about to be superior than Bakers. However, our main family Bakers’s father is always interested with his children’s relation and problem among each other. In one part of family he has a problem with his little girl because she has a boyfriend and he become jealous but then his wife understands the situation and intervention to case. At last they overcome their problem and live happy life.
what are we fighting for?
answers to presentation’s question;
1) marriage is for being regarded infront of society and it is mutual commitment, sharing life..
2) because it can be liable to marital breakdown and because of religious views..
3)because they want relation like heterosexuals’s they want to live mutual life with their partner like others.
4)not in everywhere but they can receive health insurance benefits, tenancy succession..
5)they have no procreation features so same-sex marriage is thought as a weaken association between marriage and procreation..
6)heterosexual married couple is accepted by society but homosexuals are not accepted.
homosexual relations have not been accepted in society for many years but today’s world they are not seen as an inconvenient case. people have modern view now or they try show themselves like a modern and they think this kind of people’s marriage suitable. according to some religious, it is banned but some people do not care, because being homosexual does not depend on them, it is because of DNA they could not change themselves. thus, many people not againts them.
if we look this case from procreative view, it is not beneficial. because of the fact that gays do not have baby, they have no procreative feature between each other. maybe, lesbians get baby. however, they need sperm to be pregnant. so, I think this circumstance is a little complicated and it will cause debate for more time.
where are you going? where have you been?
the girl whose name is Connie is an arrogant girl. she does not likes anything except listening music at bar after school time. she does not have any hobbies except listening music. as if she was lost in space. she is lazy and she does not want to do something for anyone. she always hate something and she is not happy neither with her family nor others. maybe she was angry to her parents because of her mother. because of the fact that her mother always compare Connie and her sister June who is good children of family according to her mother’s view. June earns money and helps family but Connie does not. also I think that because of these, Connie is little bit jealous. anyway, later, the story moves on Arnold Friend and Connie’s conversation. I think that Arnold Friend is second important character in story. he is like a typical psycho. I couldn’t solve who he is exactly but he is like a pervert. he knows eveything about girl and he threatens Connie to go with him. in my guess, at the final of the story she goes with him and not good things happen…
